Google unveiled the Nexus One at its Silicon Valley headquarters during a low-key event that was as hotly anticipated as any of Apple’s dramatic launches.
Although the handset is not the first to use the Google operating system, called Android, it is the first device that the company has designed itself.
It is finally official now, Google’s Nexus One was officially unveiled today Jan 5 at the invitation-only conference held at Google’s Mountain View HQ.
The prices that were leaked back in December proved to be accurate; $530 for an unlocked handset, and $180 with a contract from T-Mobile.
Also, Verizon customers will have to wait until spring 2010 to get one.
According to the French paper Le Point the Google Nexus One is going to be launching on the SFR network in France Q1 2010 along with a 2 year contract for less than €200.
This sounds to be more of a rumor as there is no official announcement from Google on this.
Nexus One: The phone, which has been the subject of intense speculation online over the past few weeks, will sell in the United States for $530 US unlocked and without a carrier contract, or for $180 U.S. on a two-year deal with T-Mobile, according to Gizmodo.
French blog Nowhere Else has posted a few walk-through videos of Nexus One that show the HTC powered Android phone’s homescreen, multimedia features, Android applications, camera and graphics performance capabilities.
The video quality is not that great, but the walk through is definitely thorough.
